A seller-server training program helps new and current alcohol servers keep up to date on laws and regulations that govern the sale of alcohol in the State of Texas. While it is not an official requirement to serve alcohol in Texas, most employers will require you to complete a TABC course before you are allowed to work.
This TABC Seller-Server Training Course is modeled after the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code and has been approved by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. It is periodically updated to stay current with the Beverage Code and to improve quality.
What is the tabc (texas alcoholic beverage commission)?
The TABC is the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. This is the agency in charge of the administration of the Alcoholic Beverage Code in the state of Texas. As such, TABC certification is an important step for anyone who hopes to work in the food and beverage industry where alcoholic drinks will be sold. While certification is not required by the state, it is often a requirement of employment. So, you may need to complete your TABC certification before you can start work, or you might decide to pursue it before going on interviews to make yourself more attractive as a candidate.

Upon completion of the TABC training course and passing the final exam, your information is sent directly to the Texas TABC for inclusion in the Seller/Server - TABC Certificate Inquiry System. The TABC maintains the records of all TABC Certificates and their status.

Going through a program to obtain a Responsible Server-Seller certificate will give you the opportunity to learn the various laws and restrictions that apply to serving alcohol in your state. There are legal obligations held by businesses and their employees when serving alcohol. If you were to go into an employment situation without the right training on this point, you might unknowingly make mistakes that could put people and the business at risk. Fortunately, but going through a simple, user-friendly course like the one available here, you can arm yourself with knowledge and report to the job with confidence.
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission has set the validity of a TABC certificate at 2 years. It will be printed on your certificate and may be checked by using our online verification program.
